The games of the PFF Women’s League are getting exciting as Makati, Capital1, and Stallion Laguna all picked up wins last May 17, 2025.
Pure Annihilation by Makati FC
De La Calzada extended her impressive scoring streak just days, delivering four goals in Makati’s overwhelming 9-0 rout of the University of the Philippines (UP) on Saturday.
Her goals came in rapid succession in the 40th, 41st, 74th, and 82nd minutes, underlining her attacking prowess.
Other contributors to Makati’s 9-0 thrashing of UP included Veronica Appiah, who netted twice (27′, 43′), while Gea Yumanda (13′), Angely Alferez (24′), and Shalika Viandrisa (62′) also etched their names on the scoresheet in what was a lopsided affair.
De La Calzada’s stellar run of form has now placed her second in the league’s scoring chart with eight goals, just one behind Kaya-Iloilo’s top striker, Julissa Cisneros. Her consistent finishing has been key to Makati’s resurgence.
Capital1 Fighting for Survival
Capital1 Solar Strikers also secured a crucial win during the week, overcoming UST with a final score of 3-1 in a tightly contested encounter.
UST initially grabbed the lead in the 24th minute through a long-distance strike by Logastua, which ricocheted off the crossbar and was judged to have crossed the line. But the lead was short-lived, as Helina Lamptey leveled the score in the 29th minute with a deft touch inside the penalty area.
The Solar Strikers quickly turned the tide, with Judie Arevalo and Sarahgen Tulabing netting back-to-back goals in the 33rd and 34th minutes, completing a rapid-fire comeback that sealed all three points. Despite the victory, Capital1 slipped out of third place in the standings, as Makati’s two dominant wins earned them six valuable points and elevated them in the rankings.
Stallion Laguna Remains #1
In the week’s headline matchup, Stallion Laguna edged out Kaya-Iloilo with a final score of 2-1 in order to preserve their unbeaten run and tighten their grip on the top spot.
The Laguna-based team came out with intensity, scoring twice before halftime. Team captain Chandler McDaniel struck early in the 10th minute by pouncing on a rebound off the goalkeeper, and Sierra Castles followed with a composed finish to the far corner in the 23rd minute.
Kaya-Iloilo tried to mount a comeback, driven by Dionesa Tolentin’s relentless forward runs that continually challenged the Stallion defense. However, goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel was exceptional between the posts, making crucial stops to deny the opposition.
Kaya eventually pulled one back in the 52nd minute through Shelah Cadag, who calmly slotted the ball home. Despite gaining momentum, Kaya couldn’t find the equalizer as McDaniel stood firm until the final whistle, securing the hard-earned win for Stallion.
With this result, Stallion Laguna extended their unbeaten streak and remained at the summit of the league standings, while Kaya-Iloilo suffered a narrow but significant loss.
