The San Miguel Beermen and the TNT Tropang 5G are tied at one game apiece in their PBA Philippine Cup Finals rematch. And part of that is due to Don Trollano coming alive in San Miguel’s Game 2 rout of TNT on Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Trollano, who formerly wore the TNT colors, fired a game-high 22 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and 9-for-12 from the charity stripe. His Game 2 performance was night and day from his series opener, where he scored only 4 points and struggled all game long.

Trollano Is Just Doing His Job

After Game 2, Trollano dismissed his heroics as just another day in the office, noting that he is just doing his job for the Beermen. In doing so, he also pointed out that there is more to the game than putting points up on the board—and that he is willing to do the other things to help San Miguel.

“For me naman, hindi ko na iniisip ‘yung mga kumpiyansang ganyan,” the former Adamson Falcon told reporters when asked if he had regained his confidence after his strong effort in Game 2. “Basta ‘ko, ginagawa ko lang ‘yung trabaho ko sa game. Kung hindi man ako maka-score, babawi naman ako sa depensa. Marami namang aspects ‘yung game. Ginagawa ko lang talaga ‘yung job ko.”

Of course, Trollano’s forte happens to be scoring, and he did plenty of that in Game 2 to help San Miguel’s cause. But he also helped out on defense, as he and fellow Martilyo Bros Jericho Cruz took turns defending TNT’s Calvin Oftana. With Cruz and Trollano shadowing him all game long, Oftana could only score a quiet 11 points and was ineffective for much of the game.

So, yes, Trollano just did his job in Game 2—and he did it very well.
