Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is never bashful. He speaks his mind and doesn’t mince words. He’s also bold and brash and a little over the top at the times.
And in this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend, Green was in his element once more, making a hot take on the state of the NBA and adding a fearless forecast to boot in separate interviews.
Draymond Green Describes NBA Basketball as ‘Very Boring’
Green got the ball rolling during Sunday’s NBA All-Star Media Day, where he described NBA basketball as “very boring.”
The four-time NBA champion with the Warriors was originally asked by the Associated Press if he taught the NBA game is boring. To which he replied, “Absolutely.”
Green doubled down by referencing a Kobe Bryant interview where the former Los Angeles Laker described today’s game as “accidental basketball” where “it’s all penetrate and pitch.”
“He couldn’t have been more right,” Green pointed out.
But apparently, he doesn’t feel the same way when he faces good friend LeBron James, whom he credits as being a thinker of the game.
“Every possession is some type of chess move,” Green said when playing with LeBron. “You don’t get that today in the NBA often. … You don’t just get that on a regular basis. It’s just who can run faster, who can hit more 3s, it’s no substance. I think it’s very boring.”
Draymond Green Makes a Guarantee
Green’s hot take on the NBA game, though, is nothing to what he said on Monday when he sat with TNT during pregame of the All-Star Game.
“We’re gonna win a championship,” Green said.
The TNT crew of Jared Greenberg, Jalen Rose, and Vince Carter then prodded the always outspoken Warrior to repeat what he just said—to which he gamely obliged.
“I’m sorry. I said ‘I think we’re gonna win a championship’ but I lied… We are going to a win a championship,” he said.
Green’s Warriors are currently 10th in the West at 28-27. But they have showed renewed energy lately after acquiring Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline. Whether that momentum will carry the Dubs all the way to another championship remains to be seen.
