The 26-year-old Gilas Pilipinas guard shared a possibility of joining the PBA draft by next year 2026 during the leagues’ 51st season.
Staying In Japan…For Now
Just to clear things up, the former Ateneo Blue Eagle has opted to play 1 more year at Japan’s B.League as a member of Levangga Hokkaido for the 2025-26 season.
With that being said, this will be his 4th year with the team, and he has now spent 5 years as an Asian import in Japan, starting with his first team, the Toyama Grouses.
All Eyes in 2026
“Not this year. So, we’ll see. Maybe next year,”
He said in an interview by Xander Cipriano of One Sports Digital.
“I think so, eventually. I don’t when, but hopefully,”
Dwight debuted in a Gilas uniform all the way back in February 2020 when the Philippines played against Indonesia for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers.
And when asked on why it’s now a consideration for him to play in the first basketball league in Asia, here’s what he has to say:
“I think it’s hard playing overseas. It’s not your home country, you don’t feel as comfortable, and then you’re by yourself for like almost a whole year. And so when you do it over the years, you kind of feel like you’re missing out on a lot of things. You’re missing your family… that’s probably what those guys felt and they just wanted to come home and play in the Philippines. They’re all gonna do great here.”
