Tasked with carrying much of the scoring load for the Cignal Super Spikers in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference, the duo of Erika Santos and Vanie Gandler has consistently delivered while complementing each other on both ends of the floor.
More than just putting up points, Santos and Gandler have leaned on communication and accountability, making sure they stay connected in crucial moments.

That trust has translated into a balanced dynamic on the court, where both players adjust depending on what the team needs.
“I think we all just play very selflessly. Nobody wants to be the star. We just try to cover for each other in whatever way that is—if it’s starting from the passes,” Gandler said. “If Erika is doing better in offense this day, I try to do my best to have good first balls. If she’s struggling, I try to step up also.”
The duo’s connection was evident as they led the Super Spikers to a four-set win over the Farm Fresh Foxies, 23-25, 25-14, 25-11, 25-12, to open their semifinals campaign.
Santos paced Cignal with 21 points, while Gandler added 18 points and 6 excellent receptions, highlighting their balanced impact.
A Team Effort for the Super Spikers
Still, Vanie Gandler emphasized that their success goes beyond just the two of them.
“But it’s not just me; the whole team plays very selflessly. So, I think it’s that support system we have with one another. We allow each other to make errors; we allow each other to have the time to recover,” Gandler said.
With tougher challenges ahead, Santos underscored the importance of staying locked in.
