The buzzer has finally sounded on what has been one of the most unpredictable seasons in our community’s history. I’ve had a front-row seat to the chaos, the triumphs, and the pure grit we all displayed. It’s been a wild ride, and before we fully pivot to the off-season, I wanted to take a moment to look back at the journey we just finished.

This season was a gauntlet from the jump. We started the year with a more challenging draft since several top-25 fantasy basketball players were sidelined before the first tip-off. If you felt like your early round plans were blown up by November, you weren’t alone. We then moved into mid-season, only to face more hurdles, like losing top guys like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, and Trae Young for stretches. Even the reliable studs of the league weren’t immune; seeing tier one players like SGA and Jokic deal with the grind of the schedule forced all of us to become more active at the waiver wire just to survive the week.

But with the frustration came the fireworks. We witnessed the rapid, alien-like rise of Victor Wembanyama into a fantasy cheat code. We also saw youngsters make their mark immediately. The rookie battle between VJ Edgecombe, Kon Knueppel, and Cooper Flagg brought a fresh energy to our rosters—shoutout to the managers who took a flyer on Edgecombe and Knueppel late in the draft or snatched them off the wire early. Those were one of the moves that defined most standings this season.

Managing a team while balancing everything else happening in the world is no small feat. Yet, fantasy basketball in the Philippines is stronger than ever. A huge part of that growth is thanks to the support of organizations like DFS Philippines – the first and only Daily Fantasy App in the country. They’ve been instrumental in spreading the love for this hobby to every corner of the islands, including the PBA!

To our champions across all 16 leagues: wear those titles with pride. You survived the weirdest schedules and the toughest injury luck to come out on top. To our friends who didn’t make the playoffs this time, don’t sweat it because the beauty of this hobby that we love is that there is always another season, another draft, and another chance to redeem that one bad decision or bad luck we had this year.

Mga Paps, Thank you so much for the trust you’ve placed in Fantasy Basketball PH. It’s an honor to see this community grow. To those of you lurking on the sidelines and thinking about joining: Always expect that our door is always open, so please do not hesitate to connect with anyone in the community if you have questions or are interested in joining a league.
