The FEU Lady Tamaraws overcame a sluggish start to defeat the Adamson Lady Falcons, 22-25, 30-28, 25-17, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After conceding the opening set, FEU regained its composure in the extended second frame. Alyzza Devosora stepped up in crunch time, blasting a crosscourt kill on their 5th set point at 29-28 to level the match and shift the momentum.

FEU Takes Over

With the match tied, the Lady Tamaraws took control in the next two sets. In the fourth, Lovely Lopez delivered in the closing stretch, scoring 4 of FEU’s last 5 points to secure the win and improve to a 2-2 record—tying the Lady Falcons and the University of Santo Tomas in the standings.

“Tiwala lang. Make sure na kahit nagkakamali ang team ko, wala namang gustong magkamali, more on kung paano lang sila makarecover. Hangga’t hindi natatapos, tuloy lang. Test of character yun ng bawat individual, bawat team,” said Lady Tamaraws head coach Tina Salak.

Faida Bakanke led FEU with 22 points built on 17 attacks and 5 blocks. Devosora followed with 18 points on 17 attacks and 1 ace, along with 15 excellent receptions. Jaz Ellarina added 11 points, highlighted by 5 blocks, while Gerzel Petallo contributed 10 markers.

For Adamson, Shaina Nitura tallied 24 points and registered 31 excellent receptions and 15 excellent digs. Frances Mordi chipped in 19 points and 12 excellent receptions, while Lhouiz Tuddao finished with 12 points on 9 attacks and 3 blocks.

The Lady Tamaraws will next face the winless Ateneo Blue Eagles on Wednesday, March 4, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Meanwhile, the Lady Falcons are set to battle the UST Golden Tigresses on Saturday, March 7, at the same venue.
