FIBA EuroBasket 2025 officially tips off on August 27. This year’s tournament is packed with NBA superstars and international legends, making it truly must-see TV for basketball fans. Here are five powerhouse teams with the talent and pedigree to win it all.
5. Les Bleus of France

After capturing the silver medal in last year’s Olympics, the Les Bleus of Team France are ready to show the world that they are still the best European squad in the present time.
Despite not having their best French player, Victory Wembanyama, in the tournament, the silver medalists of the 2024 Olympics are still capable of winning the title, considering the amount of NBA talent that they have on their roster.
Having Bilal Coulibaly (Washington Wizards), Zaccharie Risacher (Hawks), Alex Sarr (Washington Wizards), and Guerschon Yabusele (New York Knicks) will certainly make you a championship contender.
Also, having retired NBA players like Ellie Okobo, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, and Theo Maledon made this French team the country that has the most “NBA experience” among all the participants.
4. The Eagles of Serbia

Being the silver medalist in the FIBA World Cup 2023 and giving a hard time against the Olympic 2024 Gold Medalist Team USA in the semifinals, teams will still have you in their radar.
Not to mention, the Eagles of Serbia went perfect in all of their exhibition games leading to this tournament.
In the 7-0 record, Serbia have beaten Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Greece, Cyprus, Czechia, Germany, and Slovenia. Against Luka Doncic and teammates, they won by 34 points.
They also have Bogdan Bogdanović (LA Clippers), Nikola Jokić (Denver Nuggets), Nikola Jović (Miami Heat), and Tristan Vukcevic (Washington Wizards) in their lineup.
Returning to the team are the ones who played in the Olympics and FIBA World Cup as well, which are: Aleksa Avramovic, Ognjen Dobric, Marko Guduric, Vanja Marinkovic, Vasilije Micic, Nikola Milutinov, and Filip Petrusev.
3. Hellas of Greece
Basketball is a form of entertainment, and it couldn’t be more entertaining to see Giannis Antetokounmpo play hoops, especially leading his team from Greece.
The Hellas may have had a decent exhibition record, only winning 4 out of their 7 games. But when you have the AntetokounmBros on your squad, you have a shot of winning the ultimate prize.
Joining the superstar of the Milwaukee Bucks are his siblings, Thanasis and Kostas. They are also joined by their veteran floor general, Kostas Sloukas, and offensive-minded Tyler Dorsey.
2. Germany

The gold medalist in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and the Bronze Medalist in the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket, the Die Mannschaft of Germany are still in their elite form in 2025.
Led by NBA star from the Sacramento Kings, Dennis Schröder, the Germans are ready to win it all again. Joining Schröder are: Tristan da Silva (Orlando Magic), Franz Wagner (Orlando Magic) as well as former NBA players, Isaac Bonga and Daniel Theis.
They have also reinforced their lineup by bringing vital players in the Olympics, World Cup, and 2022 EuroBasket, which are: Maodo Lo, Andreas Obst, and Johannes Voigtmann.
[Honorable Mention] La Roja of Spain

Before I reveal my #1 pick, let us also give credit to the defending champions of the FIBA EuroBasket, the La Roja of Spain.
Still headlining their team are the Hernangomez brothers, Willy and Juancho. Despite the siblings now labeled as former NBA players, they are still joined by fellow 6-foot-11 big man from the Memphis Grizzlies, Santi Aldama.
However, the defending champs have struggled in their 6 preparation games after only winning against Czechia.
1. The Dragons of Slovenia

Last but not least is the Luka Doncic-led Slovenia.
Very much like Giannis, seeing Luka play has to be one of the purest forms of sports entertainment. The Los Angeles Lakers’ Superstar will yet again carry his team in claiming the title, but has undoubtedly been “a dark horse” for title contenders.
Their exhibition matches may not be the prettiest of them all, winning only 1 game against Great Britain and losing 5 games against Germany twice, Latvia, Lithuania, and Serbia.
