If you asked me about the biggest appeal of playing Fantasy games, my answer would be simple: Winning! What’s more, you might have a chance to turn your life around with strategy and skills rather than luck and chance.
The beauty of sports events lies in their unpredictability. Every player has potential, and jaw-dropping outcomes are always possible. I see Fantasy games as an extension of this exciting uncertainty.
In my previous article, I explained how Fantasy games work. Whether you’re a seasoned basketball analyst or a complete newbie, pure satisfaction comes when your carefully selected team beats other players’ lineups and earns you a little pocket money.
Game Coins and Cash: Daily Fantasy’s Earning Mechanism
In Daily Fantasy, there are two contest pools: Coin (cash) and Ruby (game currency). Ruby can be claimed for free every day, while Coins can be exchanged for cash (1 coin = 1 peso).
Winners in the Ruby pool can earn more Rubies, while the Coin pool offers direct cash prizes. Ironically, I tend to win more in Ruby pools, which always makes me think, “I should have entered the Coin pool instead!”
The more players participate, the larger the prize pool becomes. This is why I’m eager to spread the word about Daily Fantasy.
Real Player’s Winning Strategies
While not a Fantasy game expert, I’ll share some team-building insights.
My morning routine involves browsing NBA matchups and selecting familiar players. My strategy is straightforward: when two teams have exceptional players, credit allocation becomes tricky. Selecting both star players like LeBron and AD is nearly impossible without sacrificing other key players.
So, I typically first pick star players, using about half of the 100-point budget, then fill the remaining slots with promising newcomers and consistent performers. For example, I’ll definitely choose LeBron for Lakers, Wemby for Spurs, and Tatum for Celtics.
My Match Experiences: Two Winning Approaches
Here are two matches where I won:
LAC vs ORL
I selected Harden from LAC (a must-pick), and Wagner from Magic, who’s been in great form recently. I chose them as Captain (2x points) and Vice Captain (1.5x points). Then I selected Jones, Zubac, and Suggs from the lineup, distributing the remaining credits accordingly.

Tip: Enter the game pool five minutes before the match starts when the lineup is confirmed. You have about an 80% chance of success!
DAL vs NO
The Mavericks seemed more likely to win (and were healthier). I immediately chose Doncic, Lively, P. Washington, and K. Thompson. I filled the remaining credits with Pelicans players like Murphy. Fortunately, my Captain (Doncic) and Vice Captain (Thompson) were the best performers in that game. This match earned me a little pocket money – thanks, Doncic!
