In Marseille, France, the Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 team was able to put a better fight compared to the performance they had in Chengdu, China as they were able to make it to the quarterfinals last May 25 2025
A Better Elimination Round
The Philippines still went for a 1-1 record in the elimination round, similar to what they had in Chengdu, China but it was the quotient system that allowed them to advance to the knockout playoffs.
They lost again in their debut game against Ulaanbaatar Amazons with a score of 19-16. Tantoy Ferrer led her squad in scoring as she had 8 points with Alexis Pana tallying 5 across her name.
Against Mongolia, it was a must win for Gilas. And so, Kaye Pingol answered the call as she and Ferrer made the right plays down the line for the Philippines. They won against the Mongolians, 20-12.
A combined production from Ferrer and Pingol resulted in 13 points.
Overpowered by Czechia
A tall task ahead lies in front of Gilas as they had to battle Czechia in the quarterfinals.
They trailed in the early parts of the game, 8-1 and ever since then, the Czechs never looked back as they took the victory from Gilas Pilipinas.
Final Score: 15-8
Kristýna Brabencová was firing on all cylinders as she scored 10 points while Kateřina Galíčková recorded 7 points.
Tantoy Ferrer had the lone bright spot in their knockout game as she tallied with 7 points. The rest of the team however including Mikka Cacho shot horribly from the field with only making 1 out of the 20 attempted shots.
Next Stop: Baku, Latvia
Despite the early exit, Gilas earned themselves a 7th place finish. They now focused their sights on the next leg of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series now shifting to Baku, Latvia.
