Hornets Rally Late Against Struggling Pelicans, Firm Up Play-In Bid with Seventh Straight Win

The Charlotte Hornets continued to sharpen their stingers after a 102-95 comeback win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday extended their winning streak to seven.

After digging themselves into a 22-point hole, the Hornets leaned on a strong second-half surge to completely turn the momentum around.

Despite nursing a head injury after colliding with head coach Charles Lee early in the game, LaMelo Ball continued to anchor the Hornets’ offense, scoring 24 points en route to the victory.

Hornets Inch Closer to Play-In

With their seventh victory in a row, Buzz City has now matched its longest winning streak in a decade, dating back to March 2016.

Now boasting a 23-28 record, Charlotte sits just one game behind the Atlanta Hawks for the last spot in the NBA Play-In bracket.

With five players scoring in double figures, including Rookie of the Year candidate Kon Kneuppel, the Hornets continue to show their potential as a team to watch in the future.

Pelicans Continue to Struggle

With their loss against the Hornets, New Orleans has now suffered its 17th loss in the last 22 outings.

The chemistry hasn’t been meshing well for them either, as newcomers Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney seem to have fallen out of the rotation.

With no picks for the upcoming draft this year, and the talent of Zion Williamson unable to translate to wins, the future of the Pelicans remains blurry, to say the least.

Charlotte will stake its seven-game winning run in a showdown with the Houston Rockets on Friday, while New Orleans will try to turn things around when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.
