Kon Knueppel Continues Sterling NBA Season, Sets Rookie Record for Treys Made

A lot has been said about Kon Knueppel in this space already—and rightfully so. The man is having a heck of a rookie season, and he’s shooting his way into relevance and stardom.

And, on Friday, in the Charlotte Hornets’ 133-109 rout of the Indiana Pacers, Knueppel added to his growing legend as he broke the rookie record for treys made in a season. What’s more, he’s got about 30 games more to add to his total of 209, which is already three more than the 206 of previous record holder Keegan Murray of the Sacramento Kings.

Knueppel Sets Record in Another Shooting Display

Coming into the game against Indiana, the former Duke Blue Devil was at 201 for the season, which meant he was on pace to hit 205—one short of Murray’s 206—given his 3.5 makes a game. But Knueppel wasted no time, drilling five threes in the first half alone to tie the mark.

The Hornets’ rookie sensation then broke the record early in the third quarter after nailing his sixth triple of the game—and off a dime from Sion James, his former college teammate at Duke. Knueppel added two more treys to his ledger to finish with 8 treys on 12 attempts and 28 total points for the game.

Knueppel for the season is averaging 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 49.1% overall, 44.2% from distance, and 89.3% from the foul line.

Hornets Continue Buzzing

The former Blue Devil has formed an exciting young core at Charlotte alongside LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges, and Moussa Diabate. Together, they have led the Hornets to a winning record in 2026—18 wins as against 9 losses—and right into Play-In territory after a dismal 4-14 start to this NBA season.

Charlotte will look to continue its winning ways on Monday when it takes on the Portland Trail Blazers.
