The Los Angeles Lakers are now 3-0 as they continue their hot streak to begin the 2024-2025 NBA season, thanks to LeBron James’s terrific triple-double performance against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
In just a few months, LeBron will be turning 40 years old, but even though he’s been playing for more than two decades in the NBA, The King still seems to have a lot of gas left in his tank. With the same team, but a new head coach, Los Angeles is looking to be on the right track.
LeBron Putting in the Work at Year 22
LeBron was a man on a mission against the Kings. The 4-time NBA champion was firing all cylinders after scoring 16 of his 32 points in just three minutes to start the fourth quarter, leading Los Angeles to a 21-0 run. Sacramento tried to make a comeback, but after Anthony Davis checked back in, it was game over. Eventually, the Lakers subdued the Kings, 131–127, en route to their best season start since 2010-2011.
James recorded his 113th triple-double in his career after finishing with 32 points, 10 assists, and 14 rebounds. On the other hand, Anthony Davis managed to make his third-consecutive 30-point game after putting up 31 points and 9 rebounds on top of 3 steals and 2 blocks.
The first three games of the Lakers were met with heavyweight Western contenders (i.e. Timberwolves, Suns, and Kings), but they’re looking like a better team than they were last season.
