And then just like that, LeBron James now has 50,000 NBA career points! After 22 years, the kid from Akron becomes the first NBA player to ever reach the 50k total accumulated points (regular season and playoffs). Not Michael Jordan, not Kobe Bryant, but only LeBron.
LBJ came into the matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans ready to break another record. With just a point shy of reaching the almost impossible milestone (49,999 points), every basketball fan couldn’t help but to anticipate James’ newest record.
Fans were anticipating the moment LeBron made his 50,000th point in Crypto arena, but the Pelicans did not give it up easily. James only broke the record after hitting a three-pointer early in the first quarter. Everyone celebrated this magnanimous feat and it looked like it wouldn’t be broken anytime soon.
LeBron, like the great athlete he is, bulldozed his way to 34 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds en route to another home dub and of course, another milestone to add to his already archaic career.
Luka Doncic Also Makes History
Well, it wasn’t just LeBron who had the limelight on Wednesday as Luka also made his own incredible feat against New Orleans.
Doncic, in just less than a month in a Lakers jersey, already etched his name in Hollywood after becoming the fourth player in franchise history to record at least 30 points and 15 assists. The Slovenian star now joins NBA legends Magic Johnson, Jerry West, and his now teammate, LeBron James.
Lakers On a Hot Streak!
The LA Lakers have been having a blast since the trade deadline back in February. Since acquiring Luka Doncic, the purple and gold have gone on to win 8 of their last 10 games, including their current 7-game win streak.
Luka Magic seems like the perfect compliment to The King, as they’re now the second seed in a stacked Western Conference. From being a Play-In team to finally becoming a top contender in the league, they surely have gone a long way since adding another top 10 player.
