The Los Angeles Lakers continue to solidify themselves as one of the hottest teams in the NBA. Despite having less than 24 hours of rest since their last game in Houston, the Purple and Gold still managed to carve out a 134-126 victory against the Miami Heat on Friday, with Luka Doncic again leading the way.

Doncic delivered one of the league’s best performances this season, following up yesterday’s offensive outburst against the Houston Rockets with 60 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals.

“I felt like my three-ball was going well, and then I’m attacking… Just trying to read the game,” Doncic said postgame.

LeBron James, Luka Doncic Make History in Miami

In just his second season with the Lakers, Doncic has already etched his name among Laker greats, as his 60-point performance made him the first Laker to breach that mark since Kobe Bryant’s final game in 2016.

Additionally, Doncic also dialed in nine threes, which helped crown him as the franchise record holder for most three-pointers made in a single season, surpassing D’Angelo Russell in 2024 when he made 226.

Aside from Luka Doncic, LeBron James also made history of his own, as today’s game against Miami now ties him with Robert Parish for the most games played in NBA history at 1,611. Perhaps fittingly, The King dropped a triple-double of 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists.

With the victory, the Lakers now hold a 45-25 record and are 20 games above .500. The Purple and Gold last achieved this feat in 2020, where they eventually won the title.

Heat Lost Momentum in the Second Half

Despite climbing to an early double-figure lead in the first half, Miami eventually lost control in the third quarter, where they were outscored by LA, 38-23.

Bam Adebayo continued his solid offense, dropping a 28-point, 10-rebound double-double, while first-time All-Star Norman Powell chipped in 20 off the bench.

Luka Doncic and the Lakers will continue their hot road trip against the Orlando Magic on Sunday, while the Heat will look to return to winning ways against the Houston Rockets on the same day.
