Philippine Women’s National Football Team player, Maz Pacheco, has signed with the Everton Football Club of the Women’s Super League last July 22, 2025.
England Native Finally Returns Home
Born in Ormskirk, England, he later joined the England Youth International then, penultimately, represented the Philippines in 2024.
The 26 year old traced her Philippine roots from her Filipina Mother, and during her youth stint, she was part of the Liverpool squad. This would then all pay off, as from 2015 to 2017, she was given the opportunity to be in the senior women’s team of Liverpool.
Maz then signed to play for Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League and spent 4 years there. She appeared in 73 games and scored 2 goals with the ball club.
And in 2024, despite not playing any official game wearing the iconic blue and white colors of the Philippine National Women’s team, she has appeared in scrimmages and practices, more notably during the teams’ preparation during the Pink Ladies Cup last October 2024.
Pacheco’s “Unbelievable Feeling” Signing with Everton
“To be at such a historic club is an unbelievable feeling. I wanted to stay in the WSL and give it my all.”
In an exclusive interview with EvertonTV, Maz shared her thoughts on signing with the team and how she came up with this decision.
“It is amazing to join Everton. I have matured as a player, and for Everton to be the club to bring me back home is fantastic. To be close to family, to have friends already in the squad, and to be able to come to play at Goodison Park is amazing,” said Maz.
“To be at a club that has the backing of the owners, the Men’s team, and the staff who work here is amazing. It is important to play for pride, to play for the badge. For me, it was a no-brainer after seeing the investment that Everton Football Club is putting into the Women’s side,” she revealed her reason to wear the royal blue jersey of Everton.
“That is what you want. You want a team that backs the project that you want to achieve. There are big things happening here, and to be a part of it is special. Another attraction is the calibre of players already in the team, and who (Manager) Brian has brought in. They are players I can learn from,” she added.
For her personal goals, Maz shared that: “What is important is to make sure I push myself, make sure I grow and develop. The talks with (Manager) Brian and how he wants to play matched with my philosophy.”
Already a High Praise from Manager Brian Sørensen
“Maz is a top-quality player who will bring so much to the Club on and off the pitch.”
Manager Sørensen shared his reasons for why the Philippine player was a top signing this offseason, as well as pointing out her key attributes.
“She has a lot of experience in this league and has good relationships with several members of our squad already. Maz has shown her talent throughout her time in the WSL, and I am delighted to have her with us at Everton.”
Manager Sørensen then voiced out what having Pacheco meant for the organization.
“She believes in what we are working to do here and is determined to help the Club progress. She is an intelligent player and person, and I am sure the fans will take to her quickly.”
He then highlights how Maz can become part of something special: “Maz is another quality addition to our squad and gives us another reason to look forward to the historic season ahead.”
