The big story right now is the “Five-Game Frenzy.” Only two teams are crazy enough to play five times in seven days: the Phoenix Suns and the Washington Wizards. For Phoenix, this isn’t just a heavy week; it’s a mission. They are clawing at the heels of the Nuggets and Lakers, desperate to climb the Western Conference ladder. You already know Devin Booker is going to be a titan, but in a five-game week, the real heroes are often the guys like Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale. Even rookie Oso Ighodaro is looking like a must-start because the sheer volume of stats he can accumulate is too high to ignore. However, be careful with the Wizards. While they play five times, they are firmly in “evaluation mode” (a nice way of saying they’re tanking), so don’t be surprised if your Washington players suddenly find themselves on the bench for “rest” during their back-to-back sets.
If you don’t have Suns or Wizards, don’t panic—half the league is playing four games. If your roster features Nikola Jokic, Kawhi Leonard, or Anthony Edwards, you can breathe easy because the Nuggets, Clippers, and Timberwolves have some of the smoothest schedules in the league right now. These are the “green light” teams. But then we have the Lakers. It’s a brutal week for the Purple and Gold as they face a gauntlet including a double-dip against the Rockets and tough defensive matchups with the Heat and Magic. The good news? The Lakers are in a total dogfight for playoff seeding. That means Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves aren’t going to be taking nights off. They’ll be pushed to the limit, which is exactly what we want for fantasy production.
For those of you looking to maximize home-court energy, the Rockets and Pelicans are staying put for all four of their games. There’s something about that home cooking that usually results in a shooting percentage boost! Meanwhile, the 76ers and Cavaliers are hitting the road for a tough stretch, but their matchups are actually quite favorable especially the Pistons, who get to beat up on the struggling Wizards twice this week.
It’s going to be a high-octane week with plenty of roster moves to make. Keep your eyes on those injury reports, especially for the five-game teams, and don’t be afraid to bench a star with a bad schedule for a “hot” streamer with five games. May the Fantasy Gods favor you! let’s get those wins, and let’s bring home those fantasy trophies!
