The second week of NBA action has come and gone, and there are already a lot of injuries that have decimated managers’ rosters. With that in mind, we need a quick look at the waiver wire and see which players could fill in the gaps.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker, ATL, SG/SF
First up is Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Currently already rostered in 36% of Yahoo Fantasy teams, the former Minnesota Timberwolves standout has been slotted into the starting lineup due to Trae Young’s MCL sprain, which led to solid numbers versus the Pacers and Cavaliers.
If he’s still on the waiver wire, immediately grab him.
Collin Sexton, CHA, PG/SG
Another name to consider is Collin Sexton. LaMelo Ball missed out on the Charlotte Hornets’ win over the Utah Jazz on November 2 due to an ankle issue — a game where Sexton was named the starter.
It’s no secret that Ball has had trouble staying healthy throughout his career, and Sexton, who was rostered in 27% of teams before the injury, is the perfect guy to add right now. For Ball owners, it might be time to pick up Sexton and cuff him with Ball for the rest of the season.
Quenton Jackson, IND, PG/SG
The Indiana Pacers are currently riddled with injuries, in addition to Tyrese Haliburton likely missing the entirety of the season after his Achilles tear in Game 7 of The Finals last season.
With Andrew Nembhard and Benedict Mathurin, plus Obi Toppin joining Hali on the shelf, managers would do well to look at adding Quenton Jackson.
The Texas A&M product has been cutting his teeth in the G League since going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, and he’s quickly proving his value after dropping a 25-point, 10-assist outing, plus zero turnovers, against Golden State to lead Indiana to its first win of the season.
Currently only 8% rostered in Yahoo Fantasy, immediately head to the add players section and take a flyer on the 27-year-old combo guard.
