October 26, 2024 – The hot hands of Buddy Hield led to a blowout win for the Golden State Warriors over the Utah Jazz. But, this isn’t just another normal night for the 2020 3-PT contest champion.
It was an easy road win for the Warriors after completely destroying Utah, 127-86, behind the historic performance of Hield. He finished with 27 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds, while also shooting 7-for-9 from the three-point line. The former Sacramento Kings star made it all despite coming off the bench.
The Second Coming of the Splash Brother
It’s no surprise that Hield would fit right into the system of the Warriors, given that they’re a team whose offense is driven by the three-point line, thanks to Steph Curry, of course. However, in just his second game with the Dubs, Buddy Hield already makes history by setting the record for most threes made in a player’s first two games with a franchise after completing 12 made shots from behind the arc (5 in the first and 7 in his second game). In addition, his combined 49 points in his first two games (22 and 27) with GSW marks the best scoring output by a bench player in franchise history.
On top of that, the 31-year-old sharpshooting guard tallied his 1,936th 3-pointer which moves him to 21st on the NBA’s all-time 3-points made list. He’s just 14 triples away from LA Lakers head coach JJ Redick (no.20) and just less than a hundred made shots from the next active player, which is Eric Gordon (no.16).
