In a back-to-back road game, the Cleveland Cavaliers put on a clinic against two of the greatest basketball players in history: Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors) and LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers). The Cavs cooked the underperforming warriors and then proceeded to topple LeBron, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves’ exceptional performances in a 122-110 victory on January 1st.

LBJ finished with 23 points, while AD recorded another double-double with 28 points and 14 rebounds, and then there was AR15 who was just a rebound away from a triple-double (35 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds). On paper, the trio’s performance could have meant an easy win in front of the Lakers’ crowd. However, even a tired and on-the-road Cavs team wouldn’t budge and still spoiled the terrific outing of LA’s brightest stars.

Cleveland Cavaliers: The Best Team in the NBA Right Now

Since 2016, this season is probably Cleveland’s best chance at winning the chip. They have the best record in the league, 29-4, and are the legit contenders to make it through the East aside from the Boston Celtics.

The Cavs had stretches of being undefeated. They started the season strong with 15-0, and now, they’re on a winning streak again with 8-0 after defeating the Lakers.

Their regular season has been nothing short of spectacular. If you put it lightly, the Cavs are UNSTOPPABLE.

Darius Garland has evolved into an All-Star playmaker and facilitator, Jarrett Allen stands strong as the team’s last line of defense as a tenacious rim protector, while Evan Mobley is slowly turning into a star versatile forward who shines on both ends of the floor. And then, there’s Donovan Mitchell, the game-changer, closer, and the team’s best scorer. This team, with the reinforcements of shooters like Max Strus, Dean Wade, Georges Niang, Caris LeVert, and Sam Merrill, have surpassed expectations.

Coach Kenny Atkinson is also taking this team to a whole new level. All in all, this young squad has all the tools and skills to win it all.

The question is: Can they keep this level of play until the playoffs?
