And just like that, the Boston Celtics once again survive the New York Knicks in their fourth bout, marking a 4-0 regular season sweep.
The Knicks could have pulled away with a home win in Madison Square Garden, but then, Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis made two crucial three-pointers to give the C’s their 59th win. Tatum made a hail mary shot from downtown to tie the game in the fourth, forcing overtime, while Porzingis sealed the win with a three of his own in a thriller OT matchup, 119-117.
Tatum finished with 32 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds, while KP recorded 34 points, including a game-winner. The stats may not show it, but Jrue Holiday was reliable all throughout his 37 minutes of playing time, both on offense and on defense.
Jalen Brunson finally made his much-awaited return and immediately made an impact by putting up 27 and 10 while Karl-Anthony Towns held a 34-point, 14-rebound double-double.
The Knicks Still Can’t Beat an Eastern Team They’ll Potentially Face in the Playoffs
New York has a pretty solid roster—Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart—yet they’re still falling short against better contenders in the East, most of which are teams they will potentially meet in their playoff path.
As the 2024-2025 season is about to end, it’s already official that the Knicks haven’t won against the Cavaliers and the Celtics.
Fans have been pointing out KAT’s choking in crunch time and Anunoby and Bridges’ inconsistencies, fueled by Brunson’s lingering injuries, as the main catalyst for another impending early playoff exit.
With Brunson back in action, can the New York Knicks still turn things around and bring back the glory to MSG?
