NBA Daily Metrics: Jaylen Brown Stays In MVP Form, Jenkins Propels Pistons Past Warriors, Clingan Dominates Wolves

Here are the top performers on March 21 and the stats to highlight their impact.

BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:

Donovan Clingan POR C 21 PTS | 12 REB | 3 BLK | 52.4 FPS (vs. MIN)

The sophomore big man delivered a complete stat line while continuing to be a consistent inside presence, finishing with his sixth consecutive double-double performance and 31st in the season. Offensively, he’s also elevated his play lately, recording his third 20-point performance in his last five games.

BREAKOUT:

Luka Garza BOS C 22 PTS | 7 REB | 1 STL | 33.9 FPS (vs. MEM)

This was his best scoring game of the season and the third time in his last four games that he has scored at least 15 points. With Vucevic still sidelined, Garza should be able to deliver a few more performances like this for the time being.

SLEEPER:

Tari Eason HOU PF 10 PTS | 10 REB | 1 BLK | 29.0 FPS (vs. ATL)

Offense has been a major issue for Eason this month, but he has remained productive with positive contributions in multiple areas. Despite his inconsistency, he still has the potential to deliver much bigger performances in the games ahead.

ELITE ASSET:

Jaylen Brown BOS SF 30 PTS | 6 REB | 6 AST | 45.2 FPS (vs. MEM)

The Celtics’ superstar continues to produce at a high level, scoring at least 30 points for the fourth time in his last five games, bringing his total to 32, which is the third most in the league this year. He’s just as effective in both rebounding and playmaking, ranking just outside the top 30 in the league. This has definitely been a career year for Brown, leading the Celtics to the No. 2 seed while posting his best averages in ten seasons.

CATEGORY SPECIALIST:

Chaney Johnson BKN SF 6 AST | 3 STL | 2 BLK | 31.8 FPS (vs. NYK)

Johnson has been a steady part of the rotation in the past two weeks and has made his presence felt on the defense. He wasn’t as steady on offense, but he’s also capable of contributing in other areas to compensate.

PLAYER TO WATCH:

Daniss Jenkins DET PG 22 PTS | 7 REB | 8 AST | 42.4 FPS (vs. GSW)

Jenkins struggled in his previous outing, finishing 3-for-16 from the field, but he bounced back today with his fourth 20-point game of the season while showcasing his versatility. With Cunningham out for some time, the Pistons will have to rely on him for now.

STREAMER:

Josh Minott BKN SF 22 PTS | 5 REB | 2 BLK | 37.0 FPS (vs. NYK)

The wing has been a key part of the Nets’ rotation recently and made the most of it, averaging 17.3 points, 3.8 threes, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks in four games. He clearly has the upside of a two-way contributor and should be able to keep producing at this level as long as the minutes are there.

FLOPPER:

Dyson Daniels ATL SG 3 PTS | 3 REB | 2 STL | 12.1 FPS (vs. HOU)

Though Daniels remained productive in defense, he still finished with one of his worst games of the season. This inconsistency has been a problem for him all year, especially on the scoring end. Over the past two months, he has already scored fewer than 10 points six times.
