Here are the top performers on February 3 and the stats to highlight their impact.
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Alperen Sengun HOU C 39 PTS | 16 REB | 5 AST | 60.7 FPS (vs. IND)
Sengun’s overall numbers declined last month, but he opened February on a strong note, matching his season highs in both points and rebounds. He now has 23 double-doubles this season, the seventh most in the league.
BREAKOUT:
Dominic Barlow PHI SF 26 PTS | 16 REB | 2 STL | 57.2 FPS (vs. LAC)
With George suspended, Barlow should continue to see a bigger role in the rotation. He made the most of his opportunity today, erupting for a season-best performance in points while also grabbing 10 offensive rebounds.
SLEEPER:
Aaron Nesmith IND SF 17 PTS | 6 REB | 1 BLK | 29.2 FPS (vs. HOU)
Nesmith has struggled on offense this year, averaging a career-worst 38.3% shooting. But he’s caught fire lately, averaging 17.8 points, 3.0 triples, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over his last five games.
ELITE ASSET:
Amen Thompson HOU SF 16 PTS | 11 REB | 7 AST | 46.7 FPS (vs. IND)
Despite some inconsistencies on offense, Thompson has been incredible lately, posting elite numbers across multiple categories. He continued that trend today with his tenth double-double of the season. Even more impressive is his defensive play, where he has averaged four stocks over his last four games.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
Benedict Mathurin IND SG 25 PTS | 4 REB | 5 AST | 37.3 FPS (vs. HOU)
This performance marked his 11th 20-point game of the season. Since returning from a multi-game absence due to a thumb injury, Mathurin has been steady offensively, scoring at least 14 points while going 23-for-25 at the line in four consecutive games.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Ty Jerome MEM PG 19 PTS | 6 REB | 8 AST | 38.2 FPS (vs. MIN)
The veteran guard missed the first three months of the season with a calf injury but immediately made his presence felt in his first two games, averaging 19.5 points, 7.0 assists, and 2.0 three-pointers. With the Grizzlies missing several key players, he should continue to shoulder a significant role despite the minutes restriction.
STREAMER:
Jordan Miller LAC SF 21 PTS | 4 REB | 1 STL | 28.8 FPS (vs. PHI)
The third-year wing has proven himself a capable scorer, posting double-digit points in eight consecutive games last month. He has also made a much bigger impact in his last two games, finishing with back-to-back 20-point outings, and should be poised for more moving forward.
FLOPPER:
VJ Edgecombe PHI SG 5 PTS | 7 AST | 1 STL | 22.1 FPS (vs. LAC)
The rookie struggled on offense, shooting just 1-of-11 from the field and scoring fewer than 10 points for the fourth time in seven games.
