Here are the top performers on January 21 and the stats to highlight their impact:
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Luka Doncic LAL PG 38 PTS | 13 REB | 10 AST | 71.6 FPS (vs. DEN)
Luka Magic got off to another hot start, scoring 23 big points in the first half. He’s the only player in the league averaging 20 first-half points this season (per @Statmuse). He carried that strong play into the second half, stuffing the stat sheet and finishing with his 14th 10-assist game and 11th 10-rebound game of the season, while moving into second place on the all-time list with his 52nd career 30-point triple-double.
BREAKOUT:
Immanuel Quickley TOR PG 40 PTS | 10 AST | 2 STL | 60.4 FPS (vs. GSW)
Limited to just nine points in their loss to the Lakers, Quickley bounced back in a big way today, going 11-for-13 from the field, including knocking down 7-of-8 from deep and shooting a perfect 11-for-11 at the line to tie his career high. While he’s certainly capable of elite production for his position, his inconsistency has been glaring this month, posting two or fewer assists three times.
SLEEPER:
Jordan Goodwin PHX PG 16 PTS | 5 REB | 2 STL | 31.0 FPS (vs. PHI)
The veteran has been a solid scoring threat off the bench, reaching double figures for the 17th time this year. He also contributes across the board, but his impact has been most consistent in steals, ranking inside the top 15 in the league.
ELITE ASSET:
Alperen Sengun HOU C 20 PTS | 13 REB | 9 AST | 51.1 FPS (vs. SAS)
The versatile big man delivered another strong all-around performance, recording his third consecutive 20-point outing, his third 13-rebound game in his last four, and his best playmaking effort of the month. This also marked his 20th double-double of the season.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
Grayson Allen PHX SG 16 PTS | 5 REB | 6 AST | 34.0 FPS (vs. PHI)
This has been a breakout year for Allen, who’s averaging a career-best 16.2 points and 1.5 steals. Despite missing a number of games due to injuries, he has remained in the top 50 three-point shooters this season and has been highly productive this month, hitting at least four threes in six straight games while also adding positive value in other areas.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Jaden McDaniels MIN PF 18 PTS | 6 REB | 6 AST | 35.2 FPS (vs. UTA)
McDaniels has made a much bigger impact over his last four games, averaging 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds 5.0 assists and 2.5 blocks.
STREAMER:
Buddy Hield GSW SF 25 PTS | 2 AST | 1 STL | 32.2 FPS (vs. TOR)
Buddy has played really well lately and raised the bar again today, knocking down 6-for-6 from deep to deliver his best scoring game of the year. With Butler sustaining a season-ending injury, he’s likely to take on a much bigger offensive role, as he did last season.
FLOPPER:
De’Aaron Fox SAS PG 14 PTS | 5 AST | 1 STL | 25.1 FPS (vs. HOU)
Fox started the season strong, averaging 24 points in November. But his scoring has trended in the wrong direction this month, dropping to 16.7 points per game, including scoring 14 points or fewer in six of his last nine games.
