Here are the top performers on January 29 and the stats to highlight their impact:
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Victor Wembanyama SAS C 28 PTS | 16 REB | 5 BLK | 68.7 FPS (vs. HOU)
It was total dominance from the Alien, who finished with his 22nd 20-point game and his 21st double-double of the season. Despite continuing to struggle with his shooting, going 2-for-13 from deep in his last two games, he more than compensated on defense, averaging 15.3 rebounds and 4.7 blocks over his last three.
BREAKOUT:
Simone Fontecchio MIA SG 23 PTS | 5 REB | 1 BLK | 35.0 FPS (vs. ORL)
Fontecchio saw much more floor time today and made the most of it, knocking down six threes for his best scoring game of the season. He’s been a real threat from deep in four of his last five games, hitting 18 three-pointers.
SLEEPER:
Ace Bailey UTA SF 19 PTS | 7 REB | 4 AST | 42.4 FPS (vs. GSW)
The rookie stuffed the stat sheet while delivering again on offense, recording his fourth 19-point game in his last five outings. With the way he’s been playing, he should continue to have more solid scoring performances in the coming games.
ELITE ASSET:
Bam Adebayo MIA C 21 PTS | 12 REB | 7 AST | 48.9 FPS (vs. ORL)
Bam is on a tear, scoring at least 20 points in eight of his last nine games while recording double-digit rebounds five times in that span. He’s also been hitting shots from deep recently, maintaining a solid defensive impact, and continues to be one of the best big men in the league this season.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
Moussa Diabate CHA C 18 PTS | 19 REB | 1 BLK | 49.8 FPS (vs. MEM)
The big man was nothing short of dominant against the Grizzlies, going 8-for-9 from the floor and posting season-best numbers in both points and rebounds. This marked his 17th 10-rebound game and 12th double-double of the season. However, maintaining elite production remains a challenge, as he continues to split playing time with Kalkbrenner at their position.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Jaylon Tyson CLE SG 20 PTS | 6 REB | 6 AST | 38.2 FPS (vs. LAL)
The second-year wing continues to contribute, scoring in double figures for the ninth-consecutive game and recording his seventh 20-point performance of the season. Despite not being productive on defense, he makes up for it with contributions in other key areas. With the Cavaliers missing several key players, he is expected to continue seeing an expanded role in the coming games.
STREAMER:
Gui Santos GSW PF 16 PTS | 2 STL | 2 BLK | 36.6 FPS (vs. UTA)
Santos followed up his double-double performance against the Wolves with a strong all-around game, finishing with a season-high in scoring while matching his season-best in stocks. With the Warriors shorthanded, he’s emerged as their best option in the frontcourt and should continue to have plenty of chances to shine again.
FLOPPER:
LeBron James LAL SF 11 PTS | 3 REB | 5 AST | 19.1 FPS (vs. CLE)
Not only did James struggle offensively—going 3-for-10 and posting his lowest-scoring game of the month—but he also finished with 6 turnovers for the third time this season. He had been playing like he was in his prime for most of the month, but his recent numbers show a decline.
