Here are the top performers on March 29 and the stats to highlight their impact.
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Josh Giddey CHI PG 18 PTS | 13 REB | 10 AST | 58.6 FPS (vs. MEM)
The fifth-year guard dominated the floor, finishing with his 13th triple-double of the season, which is the second most in the league. But his biggest impact still came as a playmaker, finishing with double-digit assists in 10 of his last 11 games. If he continues to play, he should have no trouble maintaining this level of production.
BREAKOUT:
Jock Landale ATL C 19 PTS | 13 REB | 2 BLK | 45.6 FPS (vs. SAC)
With key players out, Landale stepped into the starting lineup today and made the most of it, delivering his best game as a Hawk. He had a few performances like this with the Grizzlies earlier in the season and should be able to do the same if the minutes are there.
SLEEPER:
Myles Turner MIL C 15 PTS | 6 REB | 2 BLK | 32.7 FPS (vs. SAS)
The veteran big man has been dealing with a calf injury in the past few weeks, but he was back in the lineup today and came up strong on both ends. It’s been mostly a disappointing season for Turner and the Bucks but he should continue to be productive for the rest of the year.
ELITE ASSET:
Victor Wembanyama SAS C 23 PTS | 15 REB | 6 AST | 56.0 FPS (vs. MIL)
Despite struggling on offense, Wemby still recorded at least 20 points for the 40th time this season. He was much steadier on the boards, however, posting his third straight 15-rebound outing. He has now reached both marks in the same game 10 times this year, trailing only Jokic. With his consistency, he has recently taken over as the MVP frontrunner and should be able to keep the momentum rolling heading into the postseason.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
Matas Buzelis CHI SF 29 PTS | 10 REB | 3 BLK | 53.5 FPS (vs. MEM)
The sophomore forward delivered his usual two-way impact, recording his 24th game of the year with at least 20 points while also maintaining strong defensive numbers. He’s been impressive all season and has emerged as one of the more versatile contributors in the league, ranking inside the top 50 in both scoring and rebounding while also placing 7th in blocks.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Kyle Filipowski UTA C 26 PTS | 9 REB | 2 STL | 46.3 FPS (vs. PHX)
Since returning to the lineup, Filipowski has continued to excel, posting consecutive 25-point, 8-rebound performances while shooting an outstanding 21-for-31 from the field. This was just his seventh such scoring outing this season, but he should be in line for more down the stretch.
STREAMER:
Donte DiVincenzo MIN SG 22 PTS | 5 3PM | 2 BLK | 33.6 FPS (vs. DET)
The shooting guard’s production has been largely inconsistent this year, and he’s been even worse this month, scoring fewer than 10 points eight times. But, he seems to be finding some rhythm lately, averaging 19.5 points and five threes over his last two games.
FLOPPER:
Cody Williams UTA SF 2 REB | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 8.4 FPS (vs. PHX)
Prior to this game, Williams had been on a tear, averaging 21.5 points in his last four games. But he couldn’t get anything going today, finishing scoreless on a dismal 0-for-9 shooting. Despite that, he should continue to see a key role in the rotation and have better performances for the rest of the season.
