The Sacramento Kings (7-5) finally broke out of their 3-point shooting struggles to beat the undermanned Phoenix Suns (9-3) again, 127-104, on November 14.
The Kings’ offense was clicking on all cylinders, spearheaded by De’Aaron Fox’s 29 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. Kevin Huerter also had an impressive night with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Domantas Sabonis came close to a triple-double, posting 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Keegan Murray chipped in 17 points. However, DeRozan left the game at halftime and did not return due to lower back tightness.
The Sacramento Kings, dead last in the NBA in three-point shooting at 30.1%, completely transformed their game today, hitting a sizzling 15-of-28 from beyond the arc (53.6%).
The Suns, already missing Kevin Durant, were further hampered by the absences of Bradley Beal and Grayson Allen. But Josh Okogie stepped up big time, pouring in 25 points and grabbing 8 rebounds off the bench. Devin Booker, however, was contained by the Kings, limiting him to just 18 points and 5 assists.
Kings’ Balanced Attack Leads Them to the Win
The Kings took an early 15-4 lead, but the Suns rallied to close the gap to 6. The momentum swung back in Sacramento’s favor as they unleashed an 11-0 run in the second. Huerter led the charge, extending the lead to (49-34). The Suns, however, responded with a 10-0 run of their own to keep the game tight.
The Suns carried their momentum into the third, taking the lead on a three-pointer from O’Neale. But the Kings responded to the challenge with a furious rally, reclaiming control at (77-68). Sacramento was in full command from there, finishing the quarter with a 14-6 storm. The Suns came out firing in the last frame, scoring 8 quick points to narrow the margin, but Fox took charge, scoring or assisting on his team’s next 10 points to restore the lead. The Kings started to pull away from there.
