NBA Fantasy Basketball Week 15: Waiver Wire Strategies Amid Mid-Season Trades

It is officially Week 15 on the NBA Calendar, and we saw some interesting names stand out last week, which is why they’re on our radar for this week’s edition of the Rebanse Waiver Wire. We’ll be using data like roster percentage from Yahoo Fantasy, so don’t be surprised if it’s different in the fantasy basketball app of your choice.

Kyle Kuzma, MIL, PF/C

The Milwaukee Bucks have been utterly decimated by injuries, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo being out for the foreseeable future and Kevin Porter Jr.’s oblique issue. Kyle Kuzma should benefit from their absence, even though he has been inconsistent throughout the season. In games without Giannis, he has averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 30 minutes. Rostered in only 17% of leagues, Kuzma is a prime candidate to help managers weather the Bucks’ injury storm.

Bub Carrington, WAS, PG/SG

The Washington Wizards recently acquired Trae Young in a blockbuster trade involving CJ McCollum, but with the star guard yet to suit up, Carrington has seized the opportunity. Leading the team with 37.1 minutes over the last five games, the rookie is delivering 13.8 points, 5.8 assists, and 1.4 steals. He’s perfect for Washington’s four-game week and is currently available in 85% of leagues.

Simone Fontecchio, MIA, SF/PF

The Miami Heat’s revolving door of rotations, caused by injuries to Tyler Herro and Kel’El Ware, has opened a door for the Italian sharpshooter. Fontecchio is on a tear, averaging 3.2 three-pointers made and 14.4 points over his last five appearances. For managers in desperate need of scoring and perimeter shooting, Fontecchio is a high-priority add while the Heat’s core remains sidelined.

Dylan Cardwell, SAC, C

In Sacramento, the return of Domantas Sabonis has shifted the rotation, but Dylan Cardwell has emerged as the preferred backup big man. Over his last four appearances, the rookie has averaged 11.0 rebounds and 2.6 combined steals and blocks. Despite limited scoring, his elite defensive and rebounding rates make him a valuable “ride the wave” streamer, especially since he is still rostered in only 10% of leagues.
