The Milwaukee Bucks (4-8) stormed back late in the third to outlast the Detroit Pistons (5-8) in OT, clinching a 127-120 victory on November 14.
Giannis Antetokounmpo went absolutely bonkers, dropping 59 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, adding 7 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Brook Lopez also had a huge night with 29 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 5 blocks, leading the Bucks to their first back-to-back win of the season.
Cade Cunningham, not to be outdone, matched Giannis’ brilliance with an all-around masterclass, scoring 35 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, adding 11 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Malik Beasley provided strong support, scoring 26 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
The Greek Freak Was a Force of Nature
The Pistons were off to a good start, racing to a (24-12) advantage with Holland providing a 7-point boost. But Antetokounmpo scored the game’s next 10 points to bring his team back into the game. The Greek Freak did all the work for the Bucks, scoring 22 of their 24 points in the first. The Pistons, however, kept their foot on the gas, continuing their hot shooting from three, and extending their lead to double digits at the break.
Beasley kept the Pistons’ offense rolling, hitting 2 more threes to push their lead to (70-52). But Antetokounmpo ignited a Bucks’ rally, with Trent Jr. joining the fray as Milwaukee closed the third quarter on a blistering 33-14 run, capped by Lopez and Prince, each hitting a three-pointer. The Bucks took their first lead of the game at (85-84).
Cunningham went head-to-head against Antetokounmpo in the fourth, but Milwaukee took the lead, thanks to Prince scoring 5 clutch points. But Sasser answered right back with a three, tying the game. Antetokounmpo almost threw the game away with a crucial foul against Holland, but he missed both free throws, extending the game to OT. Giannis redeemed himself in overtime, scoring 11 to claim the win.
