NBA fans tuned in on Saturday to watch the highly anticipated duel of the two most talented players in the league today—Victor Wembanyama and Nikola Jokic.

Wembanyama and the Spurs did, however, manage to steal a win in Denver, Colorado after a nail biting finish against the Nuggets, 113-110. The final moments featured a Jokic-Wembanyama faceoff, however, the 3-time MVP wasn’t able to get a shot off with a towering 7-foot-5 center manning the post. Eventually, the Spurs sealed the win in the clutch, upsetting the 2023 champs.

Although Jokic had an impressive 41 points, 18 rebounds, and 9 assists, the dub was taken by San Antonio who relied heavily on Wembanyama’s offensive and defensive prowess. Wemby went up for 35 points and 18 rebounds while shooting 14-for-22 from the field and 4-for-6 from three.

This is also the first time in NBA history that two opposing players both recorded 35+ in points and 18+ rebounds, making it a historical night for the two European stars.

It was perhaps one of the greatest battles this season, and could go down as the biggest battle of big men in today’s NBA.

One of a Kind

The Joker couldn’t help but drop the truth bomb in front of the interviewers after the game. Even as arguably the best player in the league right now, Jokic still has high praises on his competition.

During the post-game interview, Jokic told everyone how he thinks Wembanyama is “better this year than last year” and even went further, believing that the French stud will become even better in the following years.

Jokic is already a generational player himself, but he took the loss humbly and appreciated Wembanyama as a “special” and “one of a kind” athlete.

Hopefully, we get to see more Jokic versus Wembanyama battles soon!
