The Phoenix Suns lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, but it still calls for a celebration in the valley after Kevin Durant reached an impeccable historic NBA milestone.

KD Joins an Elite 30k Club

Despite their loss against the Grizzlies on February 12, 2025, Durant was still unstoppable, putting up 34 points on 12-for-18 shooting.

At exactly 1:11 before time expired in the third quarter, KD’s pair of free throws was met with a standing ovation after he had just become the eighth player in NBA history to tally 30,000 career points.

The 36-year-old superstar joins an elite club consisting of LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Dirk Nowitzki, and the late Kobe Bryant.

An 18-year-old Kevin Durant made his first basket back in 2007, against the Denver Nuggets. 18 years later, and he finally etched in basketball plethora as one of the only players to ever reach 30k points. After playing for almost two decades, the 36-year-old scoring machine has always been one of the best, if not the best, scorers in the NBA. Except for his rookie season, the Slim Reaper has never averaged less than 25 points per game.

Meanwhile, the closest active player who has the potential to join KD in the 30k milestone soon … is James Harden. He’s currently sitting at 26,931 career points, just 3,069 shy of making history. Although The Beard is already 35, he can still play basketball at a high level in the next 3 or 4 years.
