The Phoenix Suns (6-1) unleashed a furious 10-1 run late in the fourth to overtake the Philadelphia Sixers (1-5) 118-116, on November 5.
Kevin Durant was the pulse of his team’s attack, dropping 35 points, including a tough layup with 24 seconds left in the clock that gave them the lead. He also tallied 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Jusuf Nurkic controlled the interior, putting up a solid 15 points and 15 rebounds while Bradley Beal added 17 and 5, helping the Suns stretch their win streak to 5.
Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey continued to shoulder the load with Joel Embiid out, racking up 32 points. Paul George returned to action tonight and boosted his squad with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guerschon Yabusele, energized the team off the bench with 19 points, complete with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Durant Took the Reins and Led the Suns to Another Win
The Suns came out firing, raining down three-pointers to open the game with a (23-12) lead. But Lowry and Yabusele connected for a searing 14-3 fightback, tying the game at 26. Gordon’s quick 7 points gave the Sixers some breathing room at (38-32). But the Suns answered right back, as Durant reclaimed the lead at (54-53). The squads went back and forth, but Phoenix emerged with a slight edge at the break.
The game continued to hang in the balance in the third. The Suns spread the scoring around, while Maxey took control for the Sixers, scoring 13 points. Oubre Jr. gave the Sixers an early advantage in the fourth with 5 quick points. Both teams traded long bombs in a back-and-forth battle but it was Philadelphia who emerged with (113-104) lead after Yabusele hits back-to-back threes. But Durant took over, turning the game on a dime as he poured 10 points to snatch the win.
