Dallas Mavericks and Klay Thompson really out there embarrassing the Washington Wizards after the former splash bro displayed his hot shooting, creating a nostalgic experience that brings every NBA fan to an iconic Klay performance 10 years ago.
During the matchup on Monday, Thompson, who had just come back after a sprained ankle, started the game on a strong note. The 34-year-old veteran put up 21 points and completely outscored the whole Wizards team in the first quarter.
Like the great shooter he is, Klay went ballistic and made 7 three-point shots in just 10 attempts, in just a single quarter. Meanwhile, the Wizards only made 16 points in the same period and shot a terrible 7-for-22.
Klay making 21 points in one quarter takes us back to January 23, 2015, when he scored 37 points against the Sacramento Kingd in the third quarter alone. To this day, Thompson still holds the record for most points in a single quarter. A decade later and the Warriors legend is still doing it, even with him being called “washed”.
Moreover, Klay’s 7 triples tie the franchise record for most three-pointers made in a single quarter (tied with Luka Doncic in 2022). The 4-time champ also surpassed 2,600 career threes.
An injury-ridden Mavericks definitely got what they wanted from Thompson. His shooting and perimeter defense is slowly coming out, even with Doncic out.
