Tuesday’s 12-game slate in the NBA was full of standout performances that included Giannis Antetokuonmpo going off for 35 points, 18 rebounds, and 7 assists in the Milwaukee Bucks’ (26-18) victory over the Utah Jazz (10-34). Domantas Sabonis, on the other hand, put up 21 points, 22 rebounds, and 10 assists to help the Sacramento Kings (24-22) clobber the Brooklyn Nets (14-33). These three, meanwhile, had themselves quite a game:
Lakers Upend Hornets Behind 40-20 from Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis put up 21 points and 11 rebounds in the first quarter alone to lead the Los Angeles Lakers (26-18) to a 112-107 victory over the Charlotte Hornets (12-31) at Spectrum Center.
Davis’s 20-10 in the first helped the Lakers race out to a 39-19 advantage that proved more than enough in the face of Charlotte’s spirited comeback. Davis finished with 42 points, 23 boards, 2 assists, and 2 blocks in the win. LeBron James added 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Miles Bridges paced the Hornets with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Josh Okogie had 19 off the bench, while Josh Green chipped in 15. LaMelo Ball, however, only had 7 points as he left in the second quarter with an ankle injury.

Rockets Squeak Past Celtics Behind Amen Thompson’s Game-Winner
The soaring Houston Rockets (31-14) drew big games from Amen Thompson and Dillon Brooks to deal the skidding Boston Celtics (32-15) a 114-112 defeat at TD Garden.
Brooks finished with a game-high 36 points on 10-for-15 from downtown, while Thompson went off for 33 points and 9 rebounds and hit the game-winning jumper with 0.7 ticks left. Alperen Sengun chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists for the Rockets, who have now won three straight and six of eight.
Jaylen Brown topscored for Boston with 28 points but was just 10-for-23 from the field. Jayson Tatum added 19 markers, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists but was 5-for-14 overall. The Celtics are now just 3-3 in their last six games and 5-5 in their last 10.

Mavs Rout Wizards as Klay Thompson Catches Fire Early
Klay Thompson fired 21 big points in a torrid first quarter as the Dallas Mavericks (25-22) jumped all over the Washington Wizards (6-39) early and never looked back on their way to a 130-108 victory at American Airlines Center.
Thompson, who finished with 23, hit seven triples in his first quarter explosion to lead Dallas and tie Luka Doncic’s franchise records in three-point makes in a quarter. Olivier-Maxence Prosper added a career-high 20 points for the Mavs, who led by as much as 38 en route to the rout.
Bilal Coulibaly was a lone bright spot for the Wizards with his 16 points. Washington has now lost 14 straight games.
