Pistons Stay Hot with Rout of Pacers
All the Detroit Pistons (12-2) needed was a strong first half to pull out a 127-112 rout of the hapless Indiana Pacers (1-13) at Little Caesars Arena.
Jalen Duren led the way with 31 points and 15 rebounds for the Pistons, who built a 62-46 halftime lead and never looked back for their NBA best 10th straight win. Daniss Jenkins added 26 points and 8 assists as he got the start for Cade Cunningham, who sat out with a minor injury. Javonte Green chipped in 20 off the bench.
Pascal Siakam and Bennedict Mathurin had 29 and 26, respectively, for the Pacers, who have now lost eight straight.
Sixers Rally Past Clippers in Paul George’s NBA Return
The Philadelphia 76ers (8-5) welcomed oft-injured All-Star Paul George with a rousing 110-108 come-from-behind victory over the struggling Los Angeles Clippers (4-10) at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Tyrese Maxey led all scorers with 39 points and 6 assists and helped the Sixers erase a 91-81 deficit at about the halfway mark of the final quarter. VJ Edgecombe and Andre Drummond added 14 each, with Drummond hitting two free throws that put Philly up, 110-106, with under a minute left. George, who missed the first 12 games of the season, had 9 points and 7 rebounds.
James Harden had 28 points for the Clippers, who have now lost eight out of their last nine outings. Kawhi Leonard and Derrick Jones Jr. were among the notable players who missed this game, with Joel Embiid, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Jared McCain also sitting out for the Sixers.
Bulls Stun Nuggets on the Road, to Break Skid
The Chicago Bulls (7-6), who had lost five straight games, went to Ball Arena and shot their way to a 130-127 stunner over the Denver Nuggets (10-3), who saw their seven-game winning streak snapped.
Josh Giddey spearheaded the Bulls with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Kevin Huerter dropped four triples on his way to 20 markers. Ayo Dosunmu and Jevon Carter provided a spark off the Chicago bench, with the former putting up 21 points and 5 assists and the latter finishing with 15, all on triples.
Nikola Jokic carried the fight for Denver with 36 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 assists for his eight triple-double this season, which is tops in the NBA. Jamal Murray added 34, while Aaron Gordon had 24 points and 10 boards.
