Sixers Shock Lakers as Anthony Davis Exits with Injury

Tyrese Maxey erupted for 43 points to help the Philadelphia 76ers (18-27) to a 118-104 stunner over the Los Angeles Lakers (26-19) at Wells Fargo Center.

The Sixers used a 48-32 second quarter to break away from a 25-all deadlock after one as Lakers big man Anthony Davis exited due to an abdominal injury. Maxey shot 15-for-26 to lead the Sixers, who also got 20 from Kelly Oubre Jr. and 14 apiece from Guershon Yabusele and Eric Gordon.

LeBron James led the Lakers with 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Rockets Upend Hawks for Fourth Straight Win

The Houston Rockets (32-14) narrowly avoided a fourth quarter collapse to notch a 100-96 victory over the Atlanta Hawks (22-25) at State Farm Arena.

Jalen Green fired a game-high 25 points for the Rockets, who had beaten the Boston Celtics a day earlier. Alperen Sengun added 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Jae’Sean Tate added 16 off the bench. Trae Young’s 21 points and 9 assists led the Hawks, who nearly came back from a 96-80 fourth quarter deficit.

Warriors Stop Jazz Even Without Steph Curry

Dennis Schröder and Brandin Podziemski combined for 43 points to offset the absence of Steph Curry and lead the Golden State Warriors (23-23) to a 114-103 triumph over the Utah Jazz (10-35) at Chase Center.

Schröder topscored for the Warriors with 23 points while Podziemski added 20 off the bench. The two shot nine triples combined to make up for Curry, who sat out the game due to a troublesome knee.

Collin Sexton led all scorers with 30. He added 6 boards and 9 dimes.

Trail Blazers Stun Bucks as Young Guns Step Up

The Portland Trail Blazers (18-29) drew big games from Anfernee Simons, Deni Avdija, and Deandre Ayton to stun the Milwaukee Bucks (26-19), 125-112, at Moda Center.

Avdija fired a team-high 30 on top of 9 rebounds, while Simons scored 25 points and dished off 7 dimes. Ayton put up 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Blazers, who won the last three quarters en route to the upset.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 39 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Damian Lillard added 20 points and 7 assists for the Bucks, who couldn’t slow Portland down.
