A busy 11-game slate saw two teams continue their unbeaten start to the 2024–25 NBA Season, a young kid named Bronny scored his first basket, and some bad news for the Toronto Raptors.

Thunder Clip Spurs to Go 4-0

The Oklahoma City Thunder, tabbed by pundits as one of this season’s title contenders, won its fourth straight on Thursday, beating the San Antonio Spurs, 105-93, at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (18 points, 5 assists) led the way for the Thunder, who have won all their four games by at least 12 points. Lu Dort added 20, while Chet Holmgren chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks to win his much-anticipated matchup with Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama (6 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks).

Bronny James Scores First NBA Basket, but Cavs Roll All Over Lakers

The younger James, who made history with his dad both in the preseason and in the Lakers opener, made some history of his own against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, which was once his dad’s stomping grounds.

Bronny scored his first regular season points on a baseline jumper at the 2:03 mark of the fourth quarter and finished with 2 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal in what might be one of his last games before going to the G League. Unfortunately, the Cavs rolled all over the Lakers, 134-110, to send the Purple and Gold to their second consecutive loss.

Raptors Announce Injury Update on Scottie Barnes

On Wednesday, forward Scottie Barnes left the game in the Toronto Raptors’ loss to the Denver Nuggets after getting elbowed to the face by Nikola Jokic on a rebound play. On Thursday, the team announced that the do-it-all forward had fractured his right orbital and will miss at least three weeks of action.

It was double blackeye for the Raptors on Thursday as they lost to the Charlotte Hornets, 138-133, at Spectrum Center in North Carolina. RJ Barret tried picking up the slack with 31 points and 8 rebounds.
