After a back-to-back in the Bay area, the Golden State Warriors went on the road and faced the Washington Wizards in D.C. on Monday, November 4. However, aside from Steph Curry’s return after an ankle injury last week, it was the intense battle between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole that made the night more exciting.
GSW fans were delighted after seeing Curry making a quick recovery after missing three games early in the season. The 4-time NBA champion finished the game with 24 points, 16 of which came from the second half, resulting in their fourth straight victory in the West, after beating the Wizards 125-112.
The Battle Continues: Poole and Green’s Fiery Encounter
Jordan Poole and Draymond Green were going at each other in their first meeting of the 2024-2025 season. Everyone still remembers the infamous “punching” incident that changed the landscape of the Warriors in 2023. Well, Poole also still couldn’t let it slide as he was taunting and jawing at Green the whole time.
After making a 28-footer jump shot with less than 10 seconds left in the first half, Poole taunted Green by directly pointing his fingers at the former Defensive Player of the Year. However, the celebration did not last long after Curry responded with a triple of his own before the buzzer sounded. In true Draymond fashion, the Warriors icon clapped back by pointing at Poole who tried to block Curry’s buzzer-beater.
Poole did have a great night, finishing with 24 points and 3 assists. 2024 Second overall pick Alex Sarr chipped in with a double-double, 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Green, on the other hand, gave a classic performance: 18 points, 5 assists, and 8 rebounds.
Hield Leading Golden State’s Deep Bench
Sharpshooting guard Buddy Hield fires another 20-piece for the Warriors. Hield, 31, tallied his 6th 20-point outing this season and is currently averaging 22 points a game despite coming off the bench.
Golden State is now 6-1 and is sitting as the 3rd seed in the West, just behind the Phoenix Suns.
