Luka Doncic just showed everyone his new form, the most fit he’s been in the past five years, and fans are already extremely imaginative going forward. With him being in the best shape of his career, will the upcoming 2025-2026 NBA season finally be Luka’s MVP year and maybe, just maybe, bring another chip to LA?
Luka in His “Fit” Era
Videos and photos scattered across the internet have shown just how thin Luka Doncic has become since entering the offseason. Although he and the Los Angeles Lakers suffered a quick playoff exit back in March, seeing a slim Luka feels like a huge relief for purple and gold fans.
Just a quick refresher, the main reason why the Dallas Mavericks traded their biggest superstar is because of his “lack of conditioning”, which basically means he’s fat and out of shape for most of his playing days in Texas. Although Luka has always been a dominant superstar and arguably a top-three player since entering his prime, the Mavs’ front office just doesn’t see their future anymore with the Slovenian hotshot.
But now, with him looking more like his rookie self, and the Lakers management adding three more years to his contract, things might just get wilder in Hollywood—all while playing alongside LeBron James!
MVP Luka Incoming?
Luka’s transformation wasn’t just a jab at the Mavericks; it was also a strong warning to the league that there’s a new star in town, ergo the beginning of a new era in LA. Aside from a 3-year, $165 million extension, Doncic received praises for his new look and was even called the future MVP, considering how he’s been playing like one in the past three years.
Last season, Luka Magic averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, despite being “fat” and “not in his best conditioning”. With Luka being back like his 18-year-old physique, it seems like there is something big about to happen in Los Angeles. MVP? All-NBA? Championship? Who knows what might just happen next?
