Tennesse – The Los Angeles Lakers celebrated another milestone in LeBron James’s career, but the joy was met with a devastating loss against the Memphis Grizzlies, 131-114.
The Lakers sidelined Anthony Davis against the Grizzlies on November 7 after the 9-time All-Star was suffering a left heel contusion after the loss against Detroit on Monday. Rui Hachimura was also out, which means Los Angeles was missing the production of their two starters. Without the defensive anchor of the purple and gold, the young Grizz core didn’t hold back. They were completely outrebounded by Memphis (50-37) and outscored in the painted area (60-44), making it a one-sided show.
39 at 39: LeBron Makes History Again During His 1,500th Game
Father Time seems to have a hard time catching up with LeBron as the 39-year-old continues to dominate the game like he’s still 22.
LBJ played his 1,500th regular season NBA game and along with that is his jaw-dropping 39 points on 6-for-11 shooting from three plus 6 assists and 7 rebounds.
After stuffing the stat sheet at his age, LeBron just became the youngest and oldest player to ever get 35+ points and 5+ triples in a game. He did it when he was just 18 and does it again now at 39.
However, without Anthony Davis manning the paint, Los Angeles stood no chance against Memphis.
Jaren Jackson Jr., Ja Morant, and rookie Jaylen Wells fired 20 points apiece to take the dub. Wells, the 2024 39th overall pick is making a clear case as a potential Rookie of the Year, however, his teammate, 7-foot-3 Zach Edey continues to climb the ladder and is actually the leading player in the RoY ladder according to the latest update by the NBA.
Memphis and Los Angeles will meet again on November 14, 2024.
