Last May 28 2025, the Colegio de San Juan de Letran were able to defeat Mapua University in a potential Final Four preview. While San Beda finishes their Season 100 with a win against University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.
Lady Knights Gets Twice to Beat
With the last remaining games of Round 2, the Letran Lady Knights secured a twice to beat advantage as they were to beat the Mapua Lady Cardinals in 4 Sets.
With Letran winning Set 3, it was a wire to wire game in Set 4 with a tie score of 10-10. The Lady Knights had a little bit of an edge, 16-11 but Nicole Ong gave some life for the Lady Cardinals.
But Gia Maquilang, Jade Isar, and Niccen Colendra of Letran spearheaded a rally to give a 23-16 lead.
Greg Cabadin, Raissa Ricablanca, a miscue from Letran, and Nicole Ong helped Mapua narrow the gap to just 3 points. However, Colendra broke the Lady Knights’ scoring slump and brought them to match point. Though her next attack went out of bounds, Mapua’s challenge for a net touch was denied, giving them a brief lifeline. In the end, Jade Isar delivered the final blow, wrapping up the match that stretched to 2 hours and 24 minutes.
Final Score: 36-34, 25-18, 25-17, 25-22
Despite playing off the bench, Macquilang scored 22 points from her 19 attacks along with her 2 blocks. Vanessa Sarie had 15 points, 14 digs and 10 receptions. Another Lady Knight standout is Judiel Nitura as she tallied with 15 points.
Letran collects their 15th win of the season with only losing 3 games. Though it’s not clear yet if they’ll get the #1 or #2 seed since they’ll have to wait for the result of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde versus Lyceum of the Philippines University come Friday, May 30.
Angel Habacon and Reyann Cañete Steers Lady Red Spikers to a Victory
It may be a disappointing Season 100 for the San Beda Lady Red Spikers but that won’t prohibit Angel Habacon to score a season-high 29 points to get their last win.
Habacon was able to score from her 24 attacks with 5 aces and 9 digs. Janelle Bachar also had a high scoring game as she tallied 20 points. Meanwhile, there’s no other player that will savor this win other than Reyann Cañete.
The graduating student recorded 14 points, 14 digs, 1 ace and 5 receptions in her last game being part of the San Beda community.
Final Score: 25-12, 25-15, 25-20, 25-22
