In Round 2 of the NCAA Philippines Volleyball, the Lyceum of the Philippines University gets its 8th win of the season by defeating the San Sebastian College-Recoletos. On the other hand, San Beda University easily dealt with Emilio Aguinaldo College as they won 3 straight sets last May 24, 2025.
The Lady Pirates Find Their Winning Ways
Despite not making it into the Final Four picture, the LPU Lady Pirates still wanted to end the NCAA Season 100 with a prideful victory as they went against the San Sebastian Lady Stags.
LPU lost in their 1st set, 25-23, but slowly but surely, they were able to mount a comeback as they won Set 2 and 3. Johna Dolorito proved that she is the face of her university when she delivered an ace in Set 4 to be up, 13-4, but Divine Garcia led a 5-0 uprising to cut the lead and make the match more interesting.
Thankfully, an unknown hero came in to save the day for Head Coach Cromwell Garcia. The rookie middle blocker of the Lady Pirates, Angelica Cruz, who isn’t getting a lot of playing time, scored back-to-back points off blocks, which resulted in LPU having a comfortable lead.
Even contributing to the scoring was Ashley Muchillas, who tallied 2 straight points, making the score 21-11. Adding to the woes of the Lady Stags was when they committed a couple of errors in which saw them trailing 24-13.
To finish the afternoon, Anamae Perez sealed the win for the Lady Pirates as she scored the last point of the match.
Final Scores: 25-23, 25-22, 25-22, 25-15
The rookie Angelica Cruz, who was also celebrating her birthday during game day, was the best player of the game with 16 points from her 12 attacks and 4 blocks. Joan Doguna led the scoring with 17 points, laced with six digs.
LPU Lady Pirates improves to 8-8, and even though they still have 2 more games remaining in their schedule, it won’t suffice since to make it to the Final Four, a team must win 11 games. The Lady Stags, on the other hand, suffered their 5th straight loss to go down 7-9.

Winning No Matter What for the Lady Red Spikers
The second game featured teams at the bottom of the standings. Neither the San Beda Lady Red Spikers nor the EAC Lady Generals are qualified to be in the Final Four.
But that won’t stop them from playing for honor and glory.
Angel Habacon and Janelle Bachar of the Lady Red Spikers were vital in this match for their squad to get their 3rd victory of the season. Habacon had 17 points coming from her 13 attacks, and also added 2 blocks and 2 aces. While Bachar added 14 points, anchored on 13 attacks.
For the Lady Generals, the lone bright spot was Jing Alimen, who was their top scorer with 15 points, along with 13 receptions and 7 digs.
