Kevin Santos of the Letrán Knights said that a key factor for them winning the quarterfinals game against the Arellano Chiefs last November 26 at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan City was their adjustment to the defense.
Defense Wins Championships Quarterfinals Games
Facing a twice-to-beat disadvantage against the T-Mc Ongotan-led Arellano Chiefs, the Best Player of the Match, Kevin Santos, said in the postgame interview that the team really just adjusted in defense in order to get the crucial win.
“Siguro yung depensa namin kase una nag-a-adjust kami hindi namin makuha yung corners saka na-blo-blow by lagi yung nasa taas namin. Kaya nag adjust lang kami, nang maging komportable na kami, sumunod na yung offense.”
Another thing that made the Knights’ defense phenomenal was that they were able to force the Chiefs into attempting multiple 3-pointers as well as winning in the steal category (8 – 2).
The 21-year-old was able to record 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, and a whole lot of slam dunks in their 87 – 78 win against the Arellano Chiefs last Wednesday.
With a chance to make it to the Final Four, the Knights will have to face the Arellano Chiefs one last time this Season 101 today, November 28, at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan City later at 2:30 PM.
