The phenomenal rookie of the San Beda University, Agjanti Miller, couldn’t hide his excitement during the postgame interview when asked about their upcoming Finals match after winning their semifinals series against College of Saint Benilde last December 7 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

One Time Thing to be Part of the “Century-Old Rivalry”

After scoring 26 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and 2 steals to finally finish off the CSB Blazers last Sunday, the 21-year-old Fil Am guard had nothing but to be excited about playing their arch-rivals, the Colegio de San Juan de Letrán.

“It’s going to be fun. Like the game, I already know the game-, the arena is finna be rocking and they’re going to come out with their best game plan. They coming in with rest ‘cause they won early. But we just going to locked in and first and foremost, have fun out there and enjoy the moment ‘cause it’s only a one time thing.”

The Letrán Knights had an extended rest as they easily swept their semifinals against the number 1 team in Group A, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, last December 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

“Ah its exciting to be part of a rivalry, that’s like a one-time thing. Especially in the championship? So we’ll just go out there and have fun and enjoy the moment,” he added.

Aside from Miller, the heroics of Yukien Andrada and Bryan Sajonia helped the Red Lions survive the CSB Blazers.

Graduating stretch five, Andrada, led the team in scoring with 27 points to go along with 4 rebounds, an assist, and a blocked shot. While starting guard Sajonia had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

When asked what his preparations would be in facing the Knights, Miller smiled and responded with laughter, saying:

“Stay off Facebook. Stay off Facebook so I won’t see them comments they sent.”

Still Bothered by his Right Knee Contusion Injury

After winning Game 1 of the semifinals, Janti missed Game 2 due to a right knee contusion injury, one wherein he sustained game in the opening game of the series.

When asked about the status of his injury, he said:

“Ow it hurts man. I wasn’t going to miss this for the world, though.”

In Game 2 of the semis, San Beda lost to an Ian Torres game winner at the buzzer back on December 5.

He then added that despite nursing an injury, he still battled through the pain:

“Do or die game, told them to put some icy [hot] on it, KT tape and put me out there [on the floor] and I was just playing with heart.”

Game 1 of the Best of Three Finals series between San Beda and Letrán will begin on December 10, with the tip-off at 2:00 PM at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
