Colegio de San Juan de Letrán Head Coach Allen Ricardo yet again dropped some words of wisdom after winning their semifinals series against the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA and reaching the NCAA Finals last December 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Purpose, Impact and Consequences

After getting the 74 to 70 win against the Perpetual Altas, the 2nd year Head Coach of Letrán Knights went a little bit “philosophical” when asked by Rebanse on what they have been doing consistently for them to have a 6 game winning streak.

Coach Allen responded: Purpose, Impact and Consequence.

“Yes, it’s 3 things. Know your purpose, know your impact and know your consequence. So on and off the court yun, lagi kong nire-remind yun sa kanila every now and then. So we need to live with our purpose, impact and consequences in life.”

Going all the way back in the elimination phase, the Knights had a 2 game winning to end the regular season. Then come the playoffs, they withstood a twice to beat disadvantage against the Arellano Chiefs during the quarterfinals and now swept the Altas in the semifinals.

Too Young for Everything Meant They Must Always Learn

With the majority of their players experiencing their first ever Final Four win and soon their first ever Finals series, some online critics aren’t inclined that the current Letrán Knights are “too young” to win a title.

When asked by Rebanse what he thinks about this narrative, he told reporters that the key for them is to always learn

“Siguro for me as a young coach yung huwag kang huminto matuto, huwag ka huminto mag aral. I admit na lahat talaga ng games, lahat ng teams pinapanood ko [on] how they execute things yung X’s and O’s nila and napakahalaga nun sa team dahil siyempre doon mo rin makukuha yung respeto sa mga bata if alam mo yung ginagawa mo.”

He then revealed that through watching all of the games in the NCAA Season 101, he now has the idea on what are the weaknesses and strengths of all of the teams.

“And ayun siguro lang, pinag-aralan ko lang mabuti yung mga kalaban, saan sila malakas, saan sila mahina. And then trying to lay down sa players natin and then ayun of course to execute that on the game.”

Coach Allen and the rest of the Letrán Knights will be present at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City this December 5 to scout their opponents as the College of Saint Benilde and the San Beda University battle it out in the Do-or-Die Game 3 semifinals to take the last ticket of the NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball Finals.
