The NCAA, the country’s oldest collegiate league, bid farewell to another one of its rising stars in Perpetual Help Altas forward Patrick Sleat. The former FEU Tamaraw decided to forgo his remaining years of eligibility and instead join the San Juan–Go for Gold in the MPBL.
Hits Keep Coming for the NCAA
Sleat’s departure comes weeks after the San Beda Red Lions’ super rookie, Agjanti Miller, announced his transfer to the La Salle Green Archers of the NCAA’s rival league, the UAAP.
With these twin departures, the NCAA has now lost two of its best players from last season—and two of the league’s biggest and most recognizable stars. These developments also come on the heels of San Beda’s long-rumored UAAP transfer picking up steam yet again. It has not materialized just yet, but if it does, it could be the biggest hit for the NCAA in the first two months of 2026.
Patrick Sleat Prioritizes Family
After sitting out NCAA Season 100 to serve his residency, Sleat finally suited up for the Altas in Season 101 and showed everyone he could be a primary option. In his lone season, he averaged 12.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game and helped lead Perpetual Help to a third-place finish.
Months after a successful debut in the NCAA, Sleat decided to go pro, saying that he did so to fulfill his plans to work for his family.
San Juan–Go for Gold Going for MPBL Gold
Patrick Sleat is San Juan’s latest high-profile signing after nabbing four of the famed Maroon Five in Terrence Fortea, Reyland Torres, Harold Alarcon, and Gerry Abadiano earlier.
With these signings, San Juan–Go for Gold appears poised to make a title run with a retooled lineup reinforced by five of the most talented players in college last year. Last season, San Juan lost to the Pangasinan Heatwaves, 2-1, in the North Division semifinals. With more talent this season, a better finish is certainly in play.
