The NU Lady Bulldogs defeated the Adamson Lady Falcons, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 88 Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the Quadricentennial Pavilion.
In the third set, the Lady Falcons were within a point, 20-21, but veteran setter Lams Lamina leaned on team captain Vange Alinsug to secure the straight-sets win.
Alinsug scored 3 points in the Lady Bulldogs’ 4-1 closing run to seal the victory.
“This game is very important to us, kasi syempre important na ’yung mga matches, and magandang way ito to pave the way for our next matches. We just have to continue training and preparing for our games,” said Lady Bulldogs head coach Regine Diego.
Vange Alinsug Top Scores for NU as Lams Lamina Starts
Alinsug led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points built on 12 attacks and 3 service aces, along with 7 excellent receptions. Arah Panique and Sam Cantada added 12 points each.
Lamina, who returned as the starting setter, dished out 20 excellent sets, while Shaira Jardio recorded 10 excellent digs and 8 excellent receptions.
For Adamson, Shaina Nitura was the lone bright spot with 23 points and 18 excellent receptions.
The Lady Bulldogs will next face the eliminated UE Lady Red Warriors on Sunday, April 12, at 11:00 a.m. at the Quadricentennial Pavilion. Meanwhile, the Lady Falcons will take on the UST Golden Tigresses on Saturday, April 11, at the Filoil Centre.
