The PBA Commissioner’s Cup resumed on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium after its customary Monday break. Here is a recap of the double-header that went down:

Rain or Shine Stuns Magnolia with Rousing Endgame

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters conjured some endgame magic to stun the Magnolia Hotshots, 102-100, to improve to 3-1 in the midseason tourney.

With Magnolia up 100-89 with just over four minutes left, the Elasto Painters made their move, uncorking a 13-0 windup to get the win. Andrei Caracut and Adrian Nocum helped lead Rain or Shine’s endgame charge, with the former tying the game at 100 with a four-pointer and the latter hitting the go-ahead lay-in.

Caracut finished with 15 points and 3 dimes, while Adrian Nocum had 10 points and 3 boards. Import Deon Thompson paced Rain or Shine with 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Leonard Santillan added 17. Ricardo Ratliffe had 27 points and 13 rebounds for the Hotshots, who dropped to 1-4. Ian Sangalang and Mark Barroca chipped in 21 and 18, respectively.

Ginebra Staves Off Terrafirma Behind Justin Brownlee’s Big Night

Justin Brownlee erupted for 49 points on top of 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead Barangay Ginebra San Miguel to a hard-earned 114-98 triumph over the Terrafirma Dyip.

Ginebra, who improved to 3-1, was in control for most of the game behind Brownlee’s outside sniping. However, Terrafirma got as close to six points midway through the fourth quarter, prompting Tim Cone to reinsert his starters.

RJ Abarrientos had 18 points and 6 assists for the crowd darlings, who were playing minus injured starters Stephen Holt and Japeth Aguilar. Troy Rosario added 17 Markers. Brandon Edwards’s 27 points and 12 rebounds led the Dyip, who are still winless in six games. Vic Manuel scattered 19 points to continue his fine play, while Stanley Pringle contributed 11 points and 9 dimes.
