PBA Daily Metrics: Calvin Abueva Drops Big Double-Double in Return from Injury, but TNT Prevails Behind Henry Galinato’s Career Night, While Rain or Shine Escapes Blackwater

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (2-1) squandered a 19-point lead but came up big in the fourth to fend off the gritty Blackwater Bossing (1-2), securing a 110-100 victory. Meanwhile, the TNT Tropang 5G (3-1) took control early and cruised to a comfortable 130-92 win over the Titan Ultra Giant Risers (1-3) on October 24.

Keith Datu ROS C 20 PTS | 8 REB | 2 BLK | 37.1 FPS

Datu started strong with 10 points in just the first quarter and finished with a team high in points and rebounds.

Gian Mamuyac ROS SG 13 PTS | 6 REB | 5 AST | 35.7 FPS

Mamuyac shined on both ends. Offensively, he was efficient from two, hitting 4-of-5 shots to record his second straight double-digit scoring game. Defensively, he was just as impactful, tallying three stocks.

Christian David BWB SF 18 PTS | 9 REB | 1 STL | 32.3 FPS

David got back on track after scoring only seven points against Meralco. On defense, he remained steady, averaging 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals over three games this conference.

Calvin Abueva TIT PF 15 PTS | 11 REB | 3 AST | 31.7 FPS

The Beast delivered a strong double-double in his return from injury. He was sharp on offense, shooting 4-for-9 from the two-point area, but turnovers continue to be an issue, as he’s averaging five in two games.

Fran Louie Yu TIT PG 16 PTS | 2 REB | 7 AST | 30.9 FPS

Yu stepped up from the second unit, leading all bench players in scoring and leading the team in assists.

Henry Galinato TNT C 16 PTS | 9 REB | 1 BLK | 29.8 FPS

Galinato continues to make a strong impact in the paint, recording his best scoring game of the conference on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting from the field. He’s also been productive on the boards, averaging 7 rebounds over four games.

Richard Escoto BWB PF 20 PTS | 4 REB | 1 STL | 29.3 FPS

Escoto came up big in the third quarter, scoring 11 points to spark the comeback and help his team take the lead. He finished on a 7-of-10 shooting from the field. 

Joshua Munzon TIT SG 20 PTS | 3 REB | 4 AST | 27.6 FPS

Munzon had a rough time on offense, shooting just 2-for-14 from the field. However, he made up for it by getting to the foul line, where he converted 15 of his 20 attempts. He’s currently averaging 23.2 points per game this conference.

Calvin Oftana TNT SF 14 PTS | 10 REB | 1 AST | 26.5 FPS

Oftana had a relatively quiet game but he still managed to record his third double-digit scoring performance of the conference while also posting his best rebounding game so far. In last season’s playoffs, he averaged 15.6 points and 7.5 rebounds across six games against TNT.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:

Rey Nambatac TNT PG 8 PTS | 1 REB | 1 TO

Nambatac’s production has seen a downtick in his last three games, averaging just 7 points after putting 22 points in the opening game of the conference.
