The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel completely overwhelmed the TNT Tropang Giga from start to finish, cruising to an easy 97-78 victory, while the Blackwater Bossings ended their conference on a high note with a dominant 97-82 win against the Terrafirma Dyip on June 8.
Top Performers of the Day:
Japeth Paul Aguilar GIN C 20 PTS | 14 REB | 1 BLK | 40.80 FPS
Japeth got off to an incredible start, dropping 14 points in the first half. He was dominant throughout the game, going 9-for-12 from two and notching his fourth 20-point outing in his last six games. He was simply unstoppable if he got too close to the basket, shooting at nearly 60% in ten games this conference.
Calvin John Oftana TNT PF 18 PTS | 2 BLK | 4 STL | 40.10 FPS
Oftana had a rough first half with 0 points on 0-for-5 shooting. But he found some rhythm in the third quarter, scoring 7 straight points, but the lead was too much at that point. He also had a big game on defense, tying his career best in steals.
Earl Scottie Thompson GIN SG 5 PTS | 10 AST | 5 STL | 39.60 FPS
Thompson slowed down on offense, averaging 5 in his last two after scoring 15 or more in five straight games. But he remained a big contributor with his solid two-way play, recording his third double-digit playmaking game while averaging 3 steals in the last three games of this conference.
Christian David BWB SF 19 PTS | 12 REB | 4 AST | 39.40 FPS
David was a big factor on offense, scoring 7 straight in the second and adding 8 more in the fourth. He’s been their best player in this conference, averaging 16.4 points on 42.1% shooting from three while also recording three double-doubles.
Rhon Jay Abarrientos GIN PG 23 PTS | 4 REB | 4 AST | 32.80 FPS
RJ played a huge part in the team’s commanding start in the first half, hitting multiple threes and finishing 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. He’s had four games with such efficiency from the three-point area, and also recorded three games with at least 23 points in this conference.
Mark Louie Sangalang TER PF 24 PTS | 3 AST | 1 BLK | 29.5 FPS
Sangalang was highly efficient on offense, shooting at 7-for-9 near the basket and 10-for-12 from the line. But he was a non-factor in rebounding, recording 0. Despite that, he continues to lead the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists.
Richard Escoto BWB PF 21 PTS | 4 REB | 1 STL | 27.80 FPS
Escoto stepped up in offense, providing a boost in offense, helping his team to a 13-2 run in the first, and also scored 15 points in the second quarter. He was very efficient, especially at the line where he went a perfect 9-for-9. However, he was unable to see more minutes in the second half.
Jeth Troy Rosario GIN PF 11 PTS | 4 REB | 4 AST | 20.80 FPS
Rosario has been an excellent addition to the Barangay. He’s scored in double-digits in his last four games and also maintained solid contributions in multiple areas.
Biggest Disappointment of the Day:
Jordan Timothy Heading TNT PG 10 PTS | 3 REB | 3 AST
Heading’s Tropang 5G debut didn’t go as planned but his scoring talent is proven—he had five 20+ and two 30+ point games with Converge last conference.
